This collection I’ve been waiting in anticipation. With her Spring/ Summer 2011 collection Victoria Beckham, who has gone from the status of a mere celebrity to the one of a serious designer, proves that lack of special training does not always mean the impossibility of creating something brilliant.
Victoria Beckham has obviously grown up again professionally. Her staple classic dresses are now diversified by those which are less strict and more feminine and sophisticated in design. Color palette has also become brighter and livelier that makes the collection interesting for younger customers. Although with the price over $1000 the frocks will be affordable for only the richest, we can’t blame Victoria for that. It’s up to her to choose the target audience.
Among the 26 dresses from Victoria Beckham’s Spring/ Summer 2011 collection only one features a corset and that must be a disappointment for those who liked her creations for holding everything in place. Now to wear Victoria’s dresses you need to have a perfect body.
Beside dresses Victoria Beckham presents a range of bags and sunglasses in her Spring/ Summer 2011 collection. Handbags are said to be made of luxurious materials and are of interesting ladylike shapes. Some of these bags are roomy enough to hold ‘David’s football’ and others are tiny and cute clutches ideal for evenings out.
What else is notable about Victoria Beckham’s show is that the designer didn’t allow zero size models to walk the runway. As she said size six, which is Victoria’s size, is the smallest size for girls to enter her catwalk. Surprised?
